Momo Engine reads market state on four layers at once... momentum, conviction, exhaustion, and live order flow. MOMO OSCILLATOR (lower pane) A momentum "state" score scaled to ±20, where ~|10| is an average push and ±20 is stretched. It blends volatility-scaled momentum across three geometric lookbacks (fast / mid / slow) with a live order-flow imbalance read (buyers vs sellers), robust-normalized so readings are comparable across regimes and instruments. The histogram is gradient-colored: teal/green as momentum builds, red/orange/yellow as it rolls over and exhausts. COMPRESSION GATE (painted candles + coil shading) A squeeze detector (realized range vs ATR) acts as a conviction gate, not a signal. While price is coiled, Momo is dampened and desaturated toward neutral and the pane shades, telling you readings are low-conviction until the range expands. Chart candles are painted by the same gradient, so direction and exhaustion are visible on price itself. EXHAUSTION MARKERS Yellow triangles mark capitulation lows (Momo deeply negative, then turning up); teal triangles mark blow-off highs (deeply positive, then rolling over). Stretched zones are highlighted when Momo is extended and not compressed. TAPE PULSE (order-flow regime) A compact HUD reads the live tape from the chart's own market: STRENGTH (current aggressor activity vs its recent normal, in ×) and FLOW (net buy/sell pressure, ±100%), condensed into a regime label - DORMANT, BALANCED, ACCUMULATING, DISTRIBUTING, AGGRESSIVE BUY/SELL, CLIMAX — with a matching participation line in the Momo pane. On markets that report a real buy/sell split, both STRENGTH and FLOW read; where only total volume is available, STRENGTH still reads on activity and FLOW shows "—". HOW TO READ IT - Momo rising above 0, candles greening, tape ACCUMULATING / AGGRESSIVE BUY -> momentum with real participation behind it. - Momo stretched past the exhaustion threshold + a reversal turn + a capitulation/blow-off triangle -> the move is tiring. - Coil shading on -> treat Momo as low-conviction; wait for expansion. - STRENGTH surging into CLIMAX at an extreme -> often the tape flush around a turn. BUILT FOR ANY MARKET / TIMEFRAME The multi-lookback ensemble runs on the chart's own candles — no higher-timeframe feeds to stall or fail to load. Defaults are tuned for intraday crypto; every length and threshold is adjustable in the Inputs tab. METHODOLOGY Features were chosen by evidence, not folklore. Candidates were screened for orthogonality and predictive value (rank-IC + out-of-sample walk-forward on multi-year BTC), keeping volatility-scaled momentum and order-flow imbalance as the directional core and using volume/activity as a conviction gate rather than a direction vote. Collinear or low-value inputs (MACD/RSI overlap, OI-quadrant folklore, redundant CVD slope) were deliberately dropped. Decision-support tool, not financial advice.
