About
Session Magic is primarily a Monday to Friday market open strategy for Nasdaq , SPX, SPY etc. It also works well on BTC because crypto trades 24/7 but still exhibits strong institutional session behaviour in the week. Session Magic OBR identifies the opening range of a trading session and generates entries on retest or breakout of that range, with optional higher-timeframe context and multi-trade logic per session. Basic Setup. Set Start Hour and Minute to your session open in UTC (default 14:30 = NYSE open). For London use 9AM UTC with 10 bars on 1m tf for BTC (this is better than the actual open of 8am). Range Bars controls how many 1-minute bars form the opening range — 10 bars covers the first 10 minutes. The green line is the range high (long level), red is the range low (short level). A $100 Retest Buffer works well for BTC on 1m, allowing price to overshoot the level slightly and still qualify as a valid retest. Trade Logic. Trade 1 is the Opening Range Breakout retest — price breaks through a level, pulls back to it, and enters. With Allow Breakout enabled, a strong momentum candle that gaps through the level without retesting also qualifies. Max Trades defaults to 2. The second trade requires the first to have resolved (TP or SL hit) before it can fire, and enters on a pullback to the SMA50 (teal line) in the same direction as trade 1. TP defaults to 0.3%, which at BTC prices is roughly $200 — a conservative target suited to the tight 1-minute timeframe. Often the bias may be Shorts for NY open due to Jane Street around 3PM UTC — this opening range typically contains the initial stop hunt before the real directional move begins. PDC Bias. When enabled, the indicator checks where the Previous Day Close sits relative to the opening range. If PDC is more than $50 outside the range, it determines the likely direction of the main session move. A PDC above the range suggests an upward session — trade 1 targets the PDC as its take profit rather than the percentage TP, making it potentially a larger move. A PDC below the range does the same in reverse. This is particularly useful on BTC where the previous close is a common intraday magnet. Judas Swing Filter. When PDC bias is active, the opening move sometimes deliberately sweeps the wrong side of the range to shake out early positions before reversing toward PDC — a pattern sometimes called the Judas swing or stop hunt. With this filter on, a break in the counter-PDC direction is marked with a yellow diamond but does not trigger a trade. Instead the indicator watches for price to recover back through the swept level within 8 bars. If it does, that recovery candle is the entry. If price doesn't recover in time, the watch expires and no trade is taken, protecting against genuine breakdowns being misread as sweeps. Since MMT doesn't yet carry indices like QQQ or NAS for correlation context, use the built-in Daily SMA50 line as your primary directional bias filter: if BTC price is above the Daily SMA50, favour long retests of the range high; if below, favour short retests of the range low. The VWAP line serves as your intra-session magnet — it's the most reliable first target if you're managing exits manually, as price almost always revisits it before the session close. by Halginate (Didge) https://www.tradingview.com/u/Halginate/ https://blackswanindicators.in/ TRADIVARIUS Trading Terminal
