Synthetic VIX measures real-time pullback and breakout intensity, turning raw price action into a clean, two-sided synthetic volatility oscillator without relying on options data. Two mirrored two-stage rolling calculations track how far the current low has drawn down from its recent high — and how far the current high has broken out above its recent low — each expressed as a percentage. Downside and Upside are plotted symmetrically around a zero line, giving an instant read on which side of the market is stretched. Elevated and Extreme zones can be set manually or calculated adaptively from each reading's own mean and standard deviation, calibrating independently per direction so the same thresholds stay meaningful whether you're on BTC M1 or ETH H4 without retuning.
